  1. Just wanted you to know that, as of today, $200.00 has been donated to Doctors without Borders (split between Canadian and American groups) from the sale of the Magical Moebius pattern. Thanks to everyone who has supported this effort.
All the remaining orders will be mailed tomorrow, so if you don’t get yours by the middle of next week, please contact me again. (European orders may take a little longer, but don’t wait TOO long!)
    Best knitting wishes to everyone!

  2. this has virtually nothing to do with your post, and everything to do with your tour itinerary….
i am SO excited that you will be stopping in Amherst, MA. you do realize that there is a small yarn store in Amherst? and that it is just a hop, skip and jump to Northampton MA, home of the snooty-boutiquey-expensive Northampton Wools? home of the knitted wedding dress? and also home to Webs?
there is also EXCELLENT coffee in Amherst. and Thai food. and beer-battered pickles.
can you tell that i’m excited?

  3. You are the reason that I am that “crazy girl” in public places who is giggling to herself because she just can’t hold it in.
Your book is seriously awesome. Thanks for making me laugh out loud, even though I scare people.
Can’t wait until you come to the Boston area!

  4. Woot! I loved bookbookbook (though I first typed ‘boob’ – what does that say about me? don’t answer that.) and read it in one sitting. I wish you were coming closer than Memphis (say, Chattanooga, for instance). yay for moblogging. yay for you!

  5. Yay!! Well done. I need my regular dose of the Harlot too 🙂 Good luck on your tour. I, too, wish you were coming closer to the midwest. There are some great yarn stores in Kansas too . I know you’ll do great!!!

  6. I checked with MapQuest, and the drive from me to Memphis is 6 hours. Without speeding. Seriously considering a road trip…to Ottowa.
Three teens at the Russell Ranch with research project due Friday. Oh the joy.

  7. Have a great time and good luck on TV! Look forward to seeing the West Coast tour schedule.

  8. Your book arrived in my LYS today, Champaign, IL. It was in the pile of too new to be put away things on the table. Isn’t that exciting? (Sorry, I couldn’t buy one because a really big box came from knitpicks yesterday and my husband freaked out and tried to get the packing slip away from me so he could see how much I spent. Imagine that, happenning to a knitter. He didn’t call a lawyer though, and I’m still married.)

  9. I’m so happy for you! For getting the laptop to take with you, figuring it out, and going on tour. I feel as if I’m your Mother or something, watching you go out into the world. Have fun! Be careful! (That’s what I tell my kids.)It seems the closest you are getting to me is the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and I already know I can’t get to it this year, which is a bummer all by itself but knowing you will be there and I could bring my book for signature…it’s just pitiful. Have a great trip and I’m glad we won’t have to wait until you are back from tour to hear what’s going on. I shall continue to hope you make it to NC, you just never know.

  10. Note to Michelene – we’d be glad to see you in Ottawa, but there are several places of that name in the US. The YH will be at the one in Ontario, Canada. We’re all beside ourselves in excitement (doubling the population).

  11. Woohoo, blogging on the road! Go Stephanie! 🙂 That’s right, us obses… *krhm* faithful readers who can’t make it to see you on tourtourtour need our daily Yarn Harlot fix too. 😉

  12. Oh, and before I forget, I looked at your tour schedule. Holy cow, girl! Are you going to even SEE your family in the next several months? Wow.

  13. Have a great trip – don’t do so much signing that you can’t knit!
I haven’t got the book yet – I will – I too want to giggle in public.

  14. Thank god it works! Because I would have gone through serious serious Harlot withdrawl had you not been able to post for over two months.

  15. So you’re going to be on TV? And who is going to record that and put it up on the net??

  16. Excellent! Enjoy your trip and keep us all posted.
    Signed,
    Heartbroken and Harlotless in Arizona

  17. I was just on the Barnes & Noble website, and your book is #67 in sales(updated hourly)!
    Congratulations!
I am waiting with much anticipation for my copy to arrive.

  18. It’s amazing the lengths one will go to to spread knitting cheer. Thanks for insuring we won’t be Harlotblogless for the duration of your bookbookbook tour. YayYayYay!

  19. Finally – bookbookbook is in my hot little hands – o bliss!
(Commenter thingy doesn’t seem to want to let me thru – maybe because I’m stuck in a city that is NOT on the tour and am therefore not worthy -?)
Have a good trip, even though poor little Houston will see you not –

  20. I’m so glad that it works! I just decided to to fly cross country and go to Maryland Sheep and Wool so I’ll see you there!

  21. Yay! It worked! Congrats on figuring it all out. Awfully short post though. Not to worry, I entertained myself by reading you recent blog titles in the sidebar as one long sentence and it cracked me up. According to it, your arse is in need of a little balance. Sorry. Just couldn’t resist.
Hope everyone has a great day!! Stalk stalk stalk.

  22. Go, Stephanie!
Now I want to see the itemized list you left for your family. You know, the one with precise directions on how to use Mr. Washie and dire consequences to anyone consuming junk food while mom’s away.

  23. Just gotta say – the bookbookbookbook is not at all conducive to bedtime reading because it’s hard to fall asleep after you’ve been laughing your ass off for a half hour or so. Love it!!!!

  24. I love the baby jacket on your web site. Is that super merino avaiable in Toronto? I knit the same way you do, so circulars are out, and was wondering if you had been able to find very long double pointed needles that tuck under your arm (I found sizes 2mm to 4mm at schoolhouse press, but I am looking for larger sizes).

  25. All hail the power of Ken – thanks to him, there’s a Harlot on the loose with internet connection, lucky for us =)

  26. Hide your chocolate, stash away your merino, brew some coffee…the Harlot is on the loose!

  27. best wishes for your tour Stephanie.
You’re going to be a hit!
    take care of yourself,
    liz 🙂

  28. And So It Begins.
I hope you enjoy every moment (or at least, every other moment). xox

  29. Hey, Harlot. I’m very excited for you, going on tour with a successful book, lots of wonderful knitters to meet, and the ability to blog on the road. Just remember to take care of yourself, okay? I’ve done the whole being-away-from-the-family-for-two-months thing, and it is doable, but you may get more tired than you think.
So please, please remember to take some time for yourself to recuperate, even a few minutes by yourself in the hotel room at night soaking in the bath or meditating can make a huge difference. It can be easy to drive yourself too hard to please other people, so allow yourself to be just a little selfish and make the time to call home and take care of yourself. In the long run, you’ll be able to go further and be happier doing it.
Just a bit of advice from a friend who doesn’t want you to repeat her mistakes. I’d do it again if I felt it was needed, but I’d know to take care of myself better.
P.S. I’m really enjoying the yarn in the light blue braid from Baadeck Yarns. You’re a very skilled enabler. 😉

  30. Not much left to say but “What they all said!!” Have a good tour, take time for yourself (and I want to see the list-left-for-family too!).

  31. Woo Hoo, we’ll get Harlot on the road reports. Looking forward to seeing you at MS&W !!!

  32. Book, book, book! The book was delivered to my door this afternoon … Racine, WI. Congratulations on this great accomplishment! Your stories make me laugh!

  33. Lookin’ forward to meetin you when you make your way down to Alexandria. Harlot in our nation’s capitol (please don’t judge our whole country on your experience here – though 91% of us voted for the other guy). I should tell you, I’ve gained entry into an exclusive post-signing reception which I am soooooo looking forward to…

  34. Good luck on the tour! I know you will do great. Take care and look forward to the HOT and blog tales from the road!

  35. You have it figured out congradulations, looking forward to hearing about your adventures on tour.
I got an email today from amazon saying that my book has been shipped, that is 1 month earlier than they had said. I can’t wait, I should have it by next tues.

  36. nice little baby surprise. i love that pattern. always the same but with verigated yarn ; never the same.
    p.s.
in a plastic egg; somewhere in one of my dresser-drawers; i have a little blob of leftover yarn from one of the first items knitted i finished.
    lol…

  37. You’ll be in Vermont May 12th…recovering from MS&W. Milk or dark chocolate?

  38. Wow! 2 magnificent accomplishments in 24 hours… Unraveling wireless mysteries and knitting up a fancy schmancy mitered baby sweater. You are SO right about ignoring the buttons/buttonholes.
I envy all you ladies in the Massachusetts who have 3 opportunities to worship at harlot’s feet. Guess where she isn’t coming…. Te*as.
    boo hoo.
But maybe the tour will be harrowing enough that she can write about how knitting maintained her sanity while traveling…..
Miles to go before she steeks?

  39. Yay, I have the honour of posting the first Harlot sighting!
We had a great time with Stephanie today in Ottawa. Will you be surprised to hear that she is just as smart, funny and self-effacing in person? Ask her to do her Margaret Cho impression.
The Gap pants were also present, as well as the fabled Rhinebeck sweater. The only disappointment was that even on a horribly rainy day the hair was not a big as advertised.
Stephanie, I hope the rest of the tour goes well. I know all us bloggies who can attend will enjoy it!

  40. Bookbookbook arrived today from Amazon… too funny! I’m now officially one of those annoying people “Oh wait, I just have to read you one more!”

  41. Enjoy, Enjoy and just for added support I popped by my local Books-A-Million last night in Evansville, Indiana and found your book. Snapped that puppy up and started reading late last night! Even took pictures of the book on the shelf as proof and posted them on my blog. Wish you MUCH SUCCESS. You are very talented as a knitter and a writer.
