Not a Minute Too Soon

Today I drive for home, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve had a lovely time, but I miss my people, and I’m ready to see their faces and sleep in my bed and cook my food and also….

This is all the blanket yarn I have left. Obviously, I need to get there soon.

  1. Way to build suspense! And thank you for sharing your travels… lovely photos, I almost feel like I got to go to the fair! Only without the angst of being subjected to beautiful fiber and knowing I need to knit more stash before buying more…

  2. I would panic for you, but since its YOU, I’m sure you have at least one sock in progress and probably another sweater to work on with you ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. Finally, overpacking of yarn for unforeseen circumstances has been justified! That blanket is shaping up to be beautiful, can’t wait to see the finished product!

  4. Probably too late for this trip but have you heard of Knitmaps? http://www.knitmap.com It is a website where you can enter a city, state and/or zip code and up will pop local yarn stores with location, hours, and even feedback from other fiber friends who have visited the stores. I found it quite by accident but it makes a road trip a new experience.

  5. I’m always so happy to get home after a trip ~
    home sweet home!
    Safe travels!
Thanks to Leanne for posting about Knitmaps. I didn’t know about it, but that is really good information!!

  6. Safe travels home!
I often wonder, when you do these events, do you have a “yarn rider” on your contract? ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I am also surprised you have that much yarn left! I love coming home after a trip. Nothing better! Safe travels!!

  8. Happy and Safe travels! Hope your house is clean and your hearth warm…and the pantry full of good things to eat!!!

  9. You should be good until you get home…as you can’t drive and knit at the same time. Hope there are no traffic back-ups.

  10. Don’t you hate that we still have to drive our own cars and we can’t just program where we want to go and then sit back and knit while the car just goes?
I grumble about that everytime I have a road trip where I have to drive.
Knit and nap. That’s all I ever want to do in a car.

  11. Have a wonderful trip! Hope there’s more of that yarn at home or you might need to go shopping. :o)

  12. Is that blanket edging I see??? Looks like the end is in sight and now you can get an early jump on holiday knitting (ha, ha).

  13. Oh wow, hop you’ve got enough to finish Steph!
I can’t wait for the Rockton World’s Fair to come. It to me is the best fair for simply being in he fall and tons of animals and fluffy woolies.

  14. I just found out yesterday that my nephew is having a baby boy. So exciting! I have been absolutely craving knitting something for a baby, (it’s all your fault Stephanie) and now I get to.
Already have the yarn picked out (Springtime or Limeade by KnitPicks). I was thinking of making a lace afghan that has dragonflies flitting about, but now I’m thinking maybe frogs leaping about instead. Either way, hopefully it’s cute and I’ll post it to Ravelry. Who knows, maybe the pattern will be saleable and the $ can be the start of his college fund.

  15. When I saw that little bit of yarn, I was reminded of the sweater you knit and only had a tiny bit of yarn left at the end. Hank made you tell us that you have lots of yarn in the house ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. That’s actually very good planning, to have exactly enough yarn to last your trip. It’s far better to travel with a driver, however. Right now I’m awaiting back surgery next month so really can’t drive more than a few minutes, so my lucky husband gets to be my chauffeur everywhere. It’s much nicer to ride and knit than to drive. ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope the laundry hasn’t piled up to the ceiling while you were gone, and the other people who share your home have done their part to make your homecoming a pleasant one instead of a new pile of work to do!

  17. So I’m packing for my upcoming weekend trip (Knit East! A class with you! And another on Opal Sock Yarn Bunnies!) and have to keep reminding myself that, on the very off chance that I run out of yarn during the weekend, I may perhaps be able to acquire more yarn there.
Drive safely. And here’s hoping that you arrive home to find the laundry done and the mugs in their proper orientation.

  18. I do hope the remaining blanket yarn has not been shed upon by the cat, kidnapped by the dust buffaloes, swiped by the squirrels, or appropriated by a daughter!
Hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip home, and that Joe remembered to keep the house stocked with toilet paper and your favorite beverages.

  19. Beautiful blanket. But on another subject, can I just say that I HATE WHEN PEOPLE POST THEIR ADS ON OTHER PEOPLE’S BLOG!

  20. Safe travels knitting sister!
Even though you may have been alone in the car. We all have been right there with you every mile.
Take care and see you on the flip side.

  21. I echo all the comments for safe travel and second the one for knitmap. I love knitmap.com! As a rural-dwelling person without a large choice of yarn stores near my home, I always want to find the yarn stores near where I’m traveling. And I love to give gifts made of “souvenir yarn!” (I think my gift recipients are charmed by it as well.) Working on a gift right now from Knit East/Fleece Artist yarn I purchased from Cricket Cove in NB while we were on vacation there this summer! Love it!
By the way, Stephanie, I just want to prepare you for the likely situation in which the housekeeping elves have not cleaned up the place while you were gone. I’ve heard you mention your disappointment at this kind of situation before, so I just want to remind you to love your loved ones and not get too distressed about dirty dishes. I’m sure they’re glad to see you, too, even if the kitchen sink says otherwise!

  22. Hi Stephanie..This is my first comment. I really enjoy the blog..What is the best way to get information about your appearances? Thanks!

  27. To whom it may concern! There is nothing wrong in supporting someone for being "your kind" or a " good friend", But when someone is involving in a "criminal act" and "terrorizing" innocent people, WE ALL SHOULD JOIN TOGETHER to "ERASE" such a criminal for his/her inhuman acts no matter whohe/she is. That is everyone's responsibility in our tamil communityIf anyone who does not do that, that human being is "worthless" and a "traitor" for our whole tamil community! When you are talking about cyber crime, how can you leave out the "real villain" who terrorized everybody?????Only one of the following, could be a REASON for your cowardly act1) Are you a good friend of him??2) or ARE YOU AFRAID of him????It does not matter whether he is is a friend or you are scared of him, you should be ashamed of being yourself no matter what reputation you have in the internet world!

  28. Great article! That is the kind oof info that should

  29. Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you
wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to
drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is wonderful blog.
A fantastic read. I’ll definitely be back.

  30. For the Taurus men, luxury is as important as the air that they breathe.
Be sure to thank the gift giver for attending your birthday celebration (if
you had one) and if they were not able to attend, be sure to
express regret that they were not there and thank
them for their thoughtfulness. Birthday is such an occasion which gives cheerful moments and can be extremely memorable by giving amazing gifts.
