My "must reads" are linked in my blog, so I won't take up space typing them all out here! :) And I believe I have 2-3 others that I just haven't added to that list yet, but I have them bookmarked.
Posted by Natalie at June 8, 2004 11:58 AMYou, Greta, Rachael, Annie from The Knitty Gritty. Manic checking to see if they have updated happens everyday, all day long until I have read the daily post.
It's like a sickness. Each of these folks are favs, not because of the wonder of their knitting, but because of the slice of life quality. I love the way Rachael writes. I love reading about Greta's and Annie's kids. And you make me laugh every single day.
I read other folks faithfully but these are the ones that I DEPEND on.
Posted by Christy at June 8, 2004 12:20 PMYour spinning wheel looks very interesting...what kind is it (please!)?
Oh, and daily must reads?
http://www.marmalade.ca - Canadian Content
http://www.redlipstick.net/blog - she updates every once in a while with new designs for her knitwear store
http://www.livejournal.com/users/anavoog/ - sculptural crocheted hats
http://www.crazydaisy.us/
http://knittingincolor.blogspot.com/
http://string-or-nothing.blog-city.com/
http://manainkblog.typepad.com/witty_knitter/
Too many to list but these are very interesting on a daily basis.
Posted by margene at June 8, 2004 12:40 PMSteph - You are my only must read!
No really. It usually starts Queerjoe, then WendyKnits, The Knithappens.net blog, then you (cause you don't update til later) and Ken. By then, I realize I'm being paid to be at work so I should take a crack at it.
Posted by Aubergine at June 8, 2004 2:11 PMYours of course. You actually have the number one spot in my bookmark list. But my day isn't complete without these blogs as well:
http://theyarnjunkie.blogspot.com/
http://acunningplan.typepad.com/andsheknitstoo/ (the other Stephanie)
http://alison.knitsmiths.us/
There are many others that I love and they are all on my blog, but these are the ones I feel lost without.
but notice that Laura said "INSANE feat" ;)
my daily reads are
www.dooce.com (no knitting content)
www.skinnyrabbit.com
http://yentala.typepad.com/ and
http://knitwit.blogspot.com/
p.s. tank is looking good and tell Sam to be careful with the comments or she'll lose borrowing privileges :)
Other than you, of course, my "must-reads" I would add to the ones already mentioned are
Anne at http://creatingtext.blogspot.com/
Alison at http://brainylady.blogspot.com/
Jerry at http://www.gaiser.org/knitblog/index.html
and Theresa at http://www.keyboardbiologist.net/knitblog/
I read all the others listed on my website, along with some others from time to time, but those are the ones I check even if I've got no time at all in the mornings. Partly for knitting content, but in large part because I like the "voice" that comes through and because they talk about or show me interesting things.
This is not about must reads, but I love your blue tank! Where can I find the pattern?
Posted by leslie at June 8, 2004 6:31 PMI love the thought of designating one day for just spinning! After a week away from my wheel due to family issues, I think I will join you for virtual Tuesday Spinning! And your tank looks lovely.
I used to like Wendy, but like my passed obsessions with Victoria magazine and Martha Stewart Living, I realized trhat I've read this issue before. I love Rob and Matt's blogs at Threadbear because they massage my aquisitivist nature. I love you and the Knitting Curmudgeon because you're both funnier than me, and more consistently so. I aspire to Kim's intellectual grasp of the art and history of all of this at String or Nothing. And I like Margene at Zeneedle because she makes the most awesome objects. She tweaks my ambition.
Posted by julia fc at June 8, 2004 11:54 PMI'm still new to knitting, so the majority of my blog reads are non-knitters--but I'm hitting your blogroll more and more it seems. One of these days, I'll start adding more to mine.
Posted by skits at June 9, 2004 12:13 AMSpinning is such an amazing process. The one time I tried (slow day at the ren faire) I made a huge knot and felt horrible for "ruining" the wool, even though I was reassured that it wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed. How do you find time for it all?
As for daily blogs, I'm an avid reader of the VERY heavy traffic livejournal knitting community. Outside of lj, yours is the first I come to every day, and I have a list of the others I read on my blog (which in and of itself is a fantastic read. *grin*)
Posted by Jae at June 9, 2004 1:16 AMMust-reads? Well, aside from the news/RSS stuff, there's you :) and there's:
Shannon at http://www.bitter-girl.com/knitblog/knitting.html
Amy the "Boogie Girl" at http://theboogerblog.blogspot.com
Stephanie at http://www.glampyre.com
and Georgia at http://onmymind.blogdrive.com
There are others on my list, but some I don't get to every day.
Best of luck beating the tank into submission.
My faves are in the sidebar at Pink Tea - the newest addition there is Tricofolk, which is the gateway to a BILLION fabulous blogs, all in French - prepare to spend an hour poking around, and being frustrated because of all these adorable designs in European magazines you've never seen with names like Diana and Sandra. Also I am following June's spinning and knitting of her wedding veil at Two Sheep which is also in the Pink Tea sidebar.
Posted by CarolineF at June 9, 2004 11:16 AMThat's it, you go Stephanie! Show that tank who's boss! I'm rooting for you, and if the needle impalement happens, I'll still be on your side. I'm a long way from there, and the blue threat can't reach me. You'll look great in it, no tree trunk thingy happening with all those ribs.
My favourites that I check every day:
you
QueerJoe
KnittingCurmudgeon
All three are bookmarked together in a nice little group.
Barb B.
LOVE the tank!! wow! looks wonderful on.
links? I always read you of course. but I read
amy http://www.theboogerblog.blogspot.com/
annie http://www.modeknit.com/blog/
indigirl amy http://www.indigirl.com/blog/
you, queerjoe, wendy first. with my tea and breakfast. It keeps me sane. It makes me realize what I am making isn't the only little bit of knitting in the world. They make me laugh outloud. And it makes me realize how far I have yet to go.
And my LJ phillyknitters group is always a hoot, since they live nearby.
In no particular order, Mason-Dixon, Curls N Purls, Emma & Co, Skinny Rabbit, you ...... and am I now officially a suck-a** ..... and is there a hyphen in that word ? Enquiring minds want to know.
