For anyone interested in hearing me talk about you (I promise I'll only say nice things) the CBC tv interview has been moved from today to tomorrow at about 10:45 - 11:15ish on Newsworld. It's five minutes, it's live...it's scaring the daylights out of me.
Now if you'll pardon me, the eggs are waiting, and I've got a tree to take down. It's the 12th day of Christmas, Epiphany and the end of Christmastide. All the decorations come down today to avoid bad luck...and since I'm doing a live interview tomorrow, I'll be sweeping up the pine needles pronto.
Posted by Stephanie at January 6, 2007 10:33 AMwow stephanie! the eggs are just spectacular. i had no idea you were a woman of such talent (well ok, actually, i suspected you might be multi-talented). i think you need to knit egg cozies now.
Posted by: joyce at January 6, 2007 10:35 AMThe eggs are beautiful! I've thought several times about doing some of those, but never just gotten down to it. I think the lower left is my favorite. VERY nice!
Posted by: Carla at January 6, 2007 10:35 AMThat picture makes me want to start yet another hobby! Great job!
Posted by: Tammy at January 6, 2007 10:36 AMLovely, brilliant eggs
To match the lovely, brilliant
Woman who makes them.
They're great! Good luck on the interview from here in Maine - wish we could get it. I didn't know you should take down the decs now to avoid bad luck - we've been known to leave them up until easter:)!
Posted by: pixie girl at January 6, 2007 10:39 AMWow, I'm in the first 5? (Third, but someone may beat me out) The eggs are stunning! And all four survived. I'm going to see if we can get Newsworld -- we ARE fairly close to Canada, albeit not Toronto. It'll be worth trying, anyway. Happy Russian Christmas, Steph et famille, Happy Twelfth Night. We're taking down our Christmas today too. And both of my kitties (Evangeline and Lilliane) get treats, because they were both angelic and didn't raise havoc with the tree at all! (Color me astonished!)
Posted by: Dale-Harriet in WI at January 6, 2007 10:41 AMI never thought I'd say this to you, but I love your eggs.
~Nod
I guess I haven't followed the train of thought for the eggs. . .? What are you doing with them?
Just remember to speak slowly and take a second to think before you blurt out a response! Good grief, you're a pro by now.
Cheers!
Posted by: jaws at January 6, 2007 10:43 AMbeautiful - I assume that they are for keeping, right? as in they are hollow? no one would dare crack such pretty things here in my house.
Good luck on the interview - is it broadcast all over or just in Canada? We'll be cheering for you.
Here in Mexico " Los Reyes " ( The Kings ) is when children get their presents. The Kings bring them and not Santa.
All stores are open throughout the night and all of Mexico eats " Rosca de Reyes " ( Wreath of the Kings ) a slightly sweet yeast bread with dried fruit and a few tiny dolls backed in. Who ever finds a doll in their slice of bread has to prepare a Tamale party on Feb.2nd the day of Innocent Children....this year I had three slices.....three dolls !!!! And in three different houses too.....most people have this with traditional Mexican hot chocolate.......I prefer strong coffee....
Have a great " Reyes " , it officially marks the end of the Holiday season....for me a bitter-sweet day.......St. Valentine's full steam ahead ( at least in the stores here )....isn't that awful ?
The beautiful eggs gave me a friendly push in the right direction; spring and Easter on April 8th......Thanks !

Good luck, Stephanie! I'm sure you'll do fine! and your eggs are beautiful! I didn't know about the bad luck/tree thing, our tree went down yesterday so I guess we should be ok. Thank you for sharing the egg project with photos. Just beautiful!
Posted by: donna at January 6, 2007 10:48 AMI will be sure to catch that interview--gotta love the CBC! Nice Eggs (something just sounds wrong with saying that but anyway)! I've always wanted to try making them.
Posted by: marnie at January 6, 2007 10:49 AMWow...those are some purdy eggs. Very fancy. I'm sure you'll do very well with your interview. Good luck!
Posted by: minxy at January 6, 2007 10:51 AMStephanie those eggs are beautiful. How did you do those?
Posted by: Jacquie at January 6, 2007 10:51 AMNice eggssss..... But with the pine needles gone, what will you have for a back-up excuse in case of sheer panic?
Posted by: farm-witch at January 6, 2007 11:01 AMI think most knitters have other - sometimes latent - crafty ...uhh, "crafting" talents!
About the interview (sorry I can't get it), just be yourself! I've done a few of these (as have you) and it helps to just pretend you're only speaking to the interviewer and then later, pour a glass of wine to forget you weren't!
Posted by: Patty at January 6, 2007 11:03 AMThe eggs are fantastic! Its also nice to know that other people celebrate Epiphany when so many people that I know think Christmas is over on Dec. 25. We celebrate with a cake baked with a bunch of things hidden in it (like a fish hook, a small anchor, a cross, etc...) that are symbols for Jesus.
Posted by: Rachel at January 6, 2007 11:03 AMGreat eggs! I have done very basic eggs in the past, but nothing as complicated as yours.
Is the interview on the in AM or PM? Since I don't have a TV, it is important for me to know these things, so that I can make arrangements.
Katherine
The eggs are beautiful and I decree that they give you dispensation from taking down the tree today.
The eggs are a tradition among many Eastern Europeans and Ukranians, etc. Many of us follow the old calendar for certain holidays. Yes, we celebrate twice. But Christmas is not until January 7. So, I figure you have a few days grace.
Oh, the eggs at Easter are deep red.
Those are awesome eggs! You really did a great job.
Posted by: Tara at January 6, 2007 11:18 AMBreak a leg at the interview (I know a lot of theatre folk; I know better than to say good luck). The eggs are spectacular. Do you decorate them for Epiphany? I knew about the taking down the decorations and the tree today thing. My Mom taught us that but I don't know the custom of egg decorating, other than Easter. P.S. I took down the tree yesterday because I didn't want to do it on Saturday. I'd rather go out. Sorry, Mom!
Wish I could see the interview. :-(
Posted by: Liz at January 6, 2007 11:18 AM"Say arse, say arse, say arse..."
I got'cha covered, Rams.
1) Gorgeous eggs!
2) Re your interview: Break a leg. Wish I could see it.
3) I'll be a mere 150 miles from you while you're in Washington, at the end of the month. I'll be on vacation in Oregon during the same period. If I relocate, I'll have a better chance of meeting you. For some reason, the Northwest is more wool-oriented than LA.
Good Luck with the interview!!
The eggs turned out gorgeous!
Posted by: KittyMommy at January 6, 2007 11:27 AMOh, your eggs are lovely!! And you'll do fine with your interview. :)
Posted by: mish at January 6, 2007 11:28 AMThose eggs are fabulous.
And maybe I'm weird but I always feel less nervous about live interviews. Something about the fact that they can't edit what I say to sound like I believe something I don't. But maybe the risk of that happening with knitting is pretty low :-) (I've only been on TV to talk about families and you know how twisted that debate can be.)
Posted by: JoVE at January 6, 2007 11:28 AMI have put a note in my calendar for tomorrow. I have set an alarm to go off 15 minutes before so I remember. If you get nervous, just think of all the friendly faces out their cheering you on, with our knitting in hand.
Posted by: Leanne at January 6, 2007 11:31 AMGreat eggs! Does the CBC do webcasting? Love to see that interview...break a leg!
Posted by: Josa Craft at January 6, 2007 11:34 AMYou'll be fabulous. Not to worry. Will you be wearing your lace shawl with the Kiri socks, per chance?
The eggs are just beautiful too. Do you make them each year?
Wow, no red pen needed here. The egg's look fantastic. mwahahah
Posted by: Norma at January 6, 2007 11:38 AMThe Feast of the Three Kings... Epiphany...Also my best friend's birthday! And today she is 40. I am heading to Cleveland to celebrate, of course. And taking a knitted gift!
I'm sure we'll be recovering from the celebrating tomorrow, but I'll be thinking of your interview. I know you'll be brilliant!
Beautiful eggs, Steph. :-)
Posted by: Karen in Toledo at January 6, 2007 11:39 AMGorgeous eggs! Best wishes with the interview!
Posted by: Lori at January 6, 2007 11:40 AMSetting a reminder for tomorrow's Newsworld appearance....
Yikes - didn't know getting the tree down was a must today....
Nice eggs.
The eggs are beyond gorgeous. I love the variety you've demonstrated on them.
Either of the usual interviewers will definitely put you at ease tomorrow morning. And you're going to be relaxed, and funny, and informative and witty, and personable and do a terrific pitch for the sport of knitting and the Knitters Without Borders fundraising!! And they will invite you back again!! And if you're nervous, just tell yourself that this is the excitement to perform crawling around in your innards.
Looking forward to seeing and cheering you tomorrow.
Oh, those are so lovely! And, I'm sure your interview will be fabulous too.
Posted by: Amanda at January 6, 2007 11:49 AMWe're doing the tree thing today, too. Yuck. I hates it.
Nice eggs. (My children used to call my breasticles "eggs" when they were little, so there's a vague, dirty connotation here. Heh.)
Posted by: inky at January 6, 2007 11:53 AMBeautiful eggs! I tried to pick a favorite... but I can't!
Posted by: Margot at January 6, 2007 11:56 AMGorgeous. You'll do fine; just, I'm hoping someone else is helping tally the donations after your appearance!
Posted by: AlisonH at January 6, 2007 12:06 PMWow, those are some eggs! I don't really get what Epiphany is, but I'm a heathen...
Posted by: Riin at January 6, 2007 12:07 PMYour eggs are beautiful! Wish your interview was airing in LA.
Posted by: Annika at January 6, 2007 12:08 PMBeautiful! I have always liked watching someone do this.
I'm sure you will do fine with the interview.
And as far as the other book, you realize you are spoiling us. You just keep giving us these cool books.
:)
Wow, the eggs are magnificent! Very nice job :)
And the interview will be fantastic I'm sure.
Posted by: Adam at January 6, 2007 12:14 PMDe-lurking to say: You make me mental! I can't make your Kitchener talk, which is just around the corner and I can't hear your interview since I don't have cable! Tease...
Love the eggs. My dad used to make those when I was a kid.
The eggs are gorgeous. Your designs with those colors are beautiful. Once again I am inspired by your creativity.
Best wishes for tomorrow. I am confident you will be wonderful. Remember, all of us will be sending you good vibes.
I bow to your egg artistry. Absolutely beautiful.

Posted by: Kyrie at January 6, 2007 12:38 PMBeautiful eggs, Stephanie. Frantically removing Christmas from the house here too. Best wishes with the interview. It's all you, you know. Thanks for the giving opportunities!
Posted by: patt at January 6, 2007 12:39 PMWow, the eggs came out amazing. I especially love the silver and blue one that looks with the red and yellow peacock tail-look. Though that's possibly because I'm partial to blue and silver:)
Posted by: Lynette at January 6, 2007 12:40 PMWow those eggs are gorgeous! Non-traditional, definitely, but still gorgeous. You're making me want to drag out my pysanky supplies. :)
Posted by: Karla at January 6, 2007 12:41 PMThank You so much for the posting . I've been listening to the CBC all morning and just gave up hope of hearing you .I'll be glued to the radio again tomorrow morming. We put all the Christmas stuff away yesterday does that count for good luck too ? Those eggs are absolutely beautiful, and you STILL have four!! You certainly have the ""touch "" for them as well as knitting. What is around the light green one ? It looks like a tiny lace trim on there . Keep up the good work--fun I should say --and all the BEST for the brodcast You 'll be just fine as always.
Posted by: Joan H at January 6, 2007 12:46 PMTree? What tree?
I should hope I could see/hear your interview tomorrow. After all, the kids' shows are all done in Canada, so why couldn't I get grownups' stuff from Canada also? (I know, I know, shut up, quit thinking such silly thoughts and get back to knitting the mohair.)
I'll bet your hair will be gorgeous since you'll be on the radio. ;)
Posted by: Beth in WI at January 6, 2007 12:52 PMThe eggs are stunning, last thing you want is bad luck....clean clean clean...doin' that me self..much luck on the interview, wish we got that here in Arizona!

Posted by: Rachel H at January 6, 2007 1:06 PMBeautiful eggs! I can't believe the detail. I know my hand would shake, so how did you work around that? Was it a "it's done" as soon as you touched the paint to it, or could you do it over? Good luck at the CBC!
Posted by: carrie at January 6, 2007 1:10 PMGood luck with the interview. The eggs are gorgeous - you are a woman of many artistic talents.

And I *have* to join Presbytera, I know it's Rams' schtick, but the impulse is well-nigh irresistible, and my resistance is low anyway due to the cold, so - "Say arse, say arse, say arse..."! And break a leg. [g]

it works, (use pillow or prop if needed to stop yourself from leaning back into the chair.)
the rest is easy.. just talk!
Beauuuutiful Beauuuutiful just Beauuuutiful. That must take a very steady hand.
Break a leg on CBC. I love CBC. We can't get it here too much interference in the mountains. When we get close to the border we always turn on and tune in. Wish I could listen tomorrow.....
Again, Beauuuuuutiful eggs.
LOL Rams and Presbetra
Nice job on the eggs.
Break a dpn tomorrow.

Posted by: Danielle at January 6, 2007 3:01 PMThe eggs turned out so beautifully! Did you blow out the insides first, or are they hard-boiled? And do you then save them for a pretty display? (I guess not, if the insides are still inside....)
You'll do great on the interview - you always do. Is there a way to listen to it via the internet, somehow?
Posted by: Sheri at The Loopy Ewe at January 6, 2007 3:05 PMThe eggs are great. Happy Epiphany!
You will do great tomorrow!
Eggsactly what I would have excepted from a woman such a yourself! Perfection
Posted by: Michelle at January 6, 2007 3:25 PMWow cool eggs girl!! I am not sure I understood what you will do with them, but they are mighty nice. This reminds me of the ever occurring situation at the health supermarket: cashier always says: "have you checked your eggs today?" and I always think, MY EGGS, how do I check them? what could be wrong, should I count how many I have left and what's it to you anyway? what a BOLD question.... until I realized she means the ones in the carton on the belt, duh, EVERY time... I hate going shopping ;)
Posted by: Maus at January 6, 2007 3:25 PMYou're a GOOD EGG, Stephanie!!! Here's hoping you hard boil them tomorrow at the CBC!!
Posted by: Robin at January 6, 2007 3:38 PMThe eggs are lovely. And good luck with your interview!
Posted by: naomi at January 6, 2007 3:40 PMCan you tape the interview and show it on your blog?? Is that even possible? Those of us living south of beautiful Canada (USA-but I bet you knew that duh!!) won't get to see you. I also don't get knitty but told my husband we are upgrading our satilite package when your show is finally broadcast. He understood.
Posted by: Pat DeLeeuw at January 6, 2007 3:42 PMYou may want to let people know that your interview will air in Eastern Time, since it's live on Newsworld. Most Canadians know to adjust if they live in different time zones when watching Newsworld but just in case.
A faithful CBC employee
Gorgeous eggs Steph. Happy Epiphany. Good luck tomorrow on your interview. I'm sure it will be fine!

Gorgeous eggs! Good work! Happy epiphany!
Posted by: Nathalie at January 6, 2007 4:12 PMNever mind. I should look these things up first. Days don't count. It's at night, as in the night of the 25th. So last night was the last one. Now I know.
Posted by: Nathalie at January 6, 2007 4:16 PMFantastic eggs! But...did you tell us why you're doing eggs in January? You've implied it's part of a tradition, but what tradition at this time of year, as opposed to Easter time?
Posted by: Bobbie at January 6, 2007 4:49 PMThose eggs are amazingly gorgeous.
Posted by: Erin at January 6, 2007 5:13 PMGood luck with the interview tomorrow! And maybe to help you with your nerves - just think, our politicians (whose intelligence is questionable) do it on a regular basis. There's no reason why you can't. After all, knitters will rule the world! And part of that means being able to control the media. You'll do fine.
Your eggs are beautiful. Whomever receieves them will be thrilled.

Posted by: Chrissie Day at January 6, 2007 5:24 PMWell, as long as the CBC lets you say 'arse' as many times as you want and doesn't mind if you compare knitters and yarn to junkies and smack I think you'll be just fine.
And perhaps one of your computer-y/tech-y type in Canada will post the interview on YouTube?
Posted by: Wen at January 6, 2007 5:38 PMI need to get our tree down, or at least get the decorations packed. Thanks for the reminder!
Posted by: CateK at January 6, 2007 5:39 PMThose eggs are absolutely beautiful. I stand in awe.
Posted by: Wendy at January 6, 2007 5:42 PMYou're eggs are stunning! I haven't made any of those in well over a decade and never that gorgeous.
I said 'crap' live on the radio when I was 16 (won a contest, prize was tickets to a movie premiere but the family vacation conflicted) and the sound of it still rings through my brain from time to time.
Good luck!
Posted by: Anne at January 6, 2007 5:45 PMIt's only five minutes, by the time they've introduced you to non-knitters it will be down to four. I couldn't do it, I'd be stuck with my head down the toilet all night. You've done it before without disgracing yourself or being forced to surrender your passport and I'm sure you'll do it again. Treat yourself to something small and expensive afterwards (silk maybe?)
My Christmas trees are down, the baubles packed and your eggs are lovely.
Is that CBC radio or CBC tv?
Posted by: Marg at January 6, 2007 6:37 PMBeautiful eggs! Since they take (most people) a while, around here we start about now.
Speaking of Ukrainian traditions, around here the people would think they were being rude to the Ukrainians if they didn't keep all the deco's blazing until Ukrainian New Years (Jan.14)! Of course, our town is at least half Ukrainian descent.
Yes, YouTube! Someone, please?!
Posted by: Kathen at January 6, 2007 6:52 PMLovely eggs!
We got some of our Christmas decorations down today, but not all of them. Personally, I'd rather leave them up & use the time to knit, but I don't think my husband will let me get away with that...
Best of luck on the interview!
Those eggs are looking fab-u-lous! I have always thought it would be fun to teach people at church here how to do them for easter. Maybe this year will be the year I get around to remembering it in time to actually do it.
I wish I could have seen the interview, but I am sure you did fabulous as well :)
Posted by: cheesehead with sticks at January 6, 2007 7:14 PMI went to the place Harlot had mentioned, browsed through tomorrow's radio listings, and ended up downloading some sort of free Windows Media Viewer thingy. I don't know if I will get it to work in time, but it's an option I will try.
How I'll do all this while I'm in church at the same time remains a mystery.
Posted by: Beth in WI at January 6, 2007 7:18 PMThe eggs look beautiful!!!
As for making time for oneself, I make an appointment every week where I am the sole attendee. This way I have blocked off time every week for me.
Good luck on your tv appearance!!
Posted by: Hothead at January 6, 2007 7:28 PMEggs are beautiful. My grandmother made them when I was little, keeping the old traditions. Sadly, I never saw her actually making them - just remember, barely, staring at hers and being forbidden to touch! Thanks for bringing back a good memory with your lovely work.
Posted by: Petunia at January 6, 2007 7:36 PMYes! We don't take things down until Epiphany too! Now that those tardy wise men have arrived, the Christmas tree can go.
Gorgeous eggs! We will be watching and rooting for you tomorrow!
Posted by: Heather G. at January 6, 2007 7:51 PMNice Legs (oops! EGGS)
Got my tree down.
Glad to hear I didn't miss you. I'll try not to sleep in tomorrow!
I don't get it. What's with the eggs? Is it some kind of traditional symbolic Christmas thing? I skimmed the comments for clues and all I've come up with is that it's a Ukrainian tradition. Excuse my holiday naivete as I am a misguided heathen.
Posted by: f. pants at January 6, 2007 8:11 PMNow you're on overtime! The eggs are gorgeous, any chance translating them to knitting?
Posted by: Carol at January 6, 2007 8:43 PMNeat eggs!

Break a leg at the CBC. Glad to hear you will spread the word. And remember if you feel queasy -- it's for MSF/TSF! Be proud!!

You were well-spoken and to the point, and your knitting looked fantastic. (Not that I had expected different from you!) Is it the yoga bag, re-done? Well done, our very own Harlot.
Posted by: Susan A in Ottawa at January 7, 2007 11:21 AMGo Harlot--just saw you on CBC and you were great--can't wait to see what this will produce in terms of donations -- saw the totals and bust with joy--and we're not finished yet because I haven't received my confirmation email--YEEHAW--even my husband who teases me about "the knitting cult" is mightily impressed with the results--topic of great discussions at the dinner table over the hols--GO HARLOT GO (the knitters are right behind you)!!
Posted by: Barbie O. in Montreal at January 7, 2007 11:26 AMYOu ddn't looked scared at all on the CBC, smiling and knitting , You were fantastic ! How did they keep the other knitters at Lettuce Knit sooooo quiet hahaha Thank You again for all your efforts
Posted by: Joan H at January 7, 2007 11:27 AMGreat eggs! I especially love the light green and blue motif
I even get CBC here in the PNW, so I'm looking for your interview now. I'm all ready for Madrona. I, being local, know of a few veggie (and vegan) restaurants in the area. I'll likely be posting them on FT.
Posted by: Syrenmuse at January 7, 2007 11:41 AMWOW - you knit FAST - I am truly amazed.
Your hair looked great!
Just saw you on tv and taped it so that the knitting group can watch it on Tuesday.
You were great!! You speak so well, and the interviewer didn't interrupt very much which was also great and unusual. I enjoyed it and also enjoyed watching you knit. You are fast!! Your colour choices were great and it was fun to see knitters at Lettuce Knit behind you. Great show. I will now send feedback to CBC.

Rock on!
You were awesome! I'm certain that more donations will be pouring in!
Posted by: Betseydoodlee at January 7, 2007 12:35 PMAfter far too many minutes of CBC Sunday, I clued in that you were on Newsworld and found the station with 2 minutes to spare.
You were great!! Pity the girl interviewing you didn't do enough research to realize that, in fact, almost all knitters can talk AND knit at the same time. We are a talented bunch.
The interview was great - what was that you were working on?
Posted by: Kathy at January 7, 2007 12:58 PMVerrrrry coooool eggs! I have always want to learn how to do that. You have a steady hand. No wonder your knitting is excellent. May I send you a dozen next year? Will mark 'Fragile' on the box for good measure!
Posted by: melissa at January 7, 2007 1:00 PMHi Steph,
The eggs are simply gorgeous! Such a wonderful craft. Did you learn it from a relative or friend?
Ang
Just watched my tape -- well done! Your hair looked fab and my word, you knit fast. I was watching your hands and it's hypnotic. Hope MSF is in touch soon to thank you for your efforts.
There was a segment on Coronation Street earlier in the hour and I grafted a toe while sitting, so it was time well spent.
Posted by: Verlyn at January 7, 2007 1:48 PMThose eggs are divine. I covet them. The one on the upper right looks eerily similar to my grandmother's bedroom wallpaper. Seafoam green background, turquoise daisy-like flowers, and white lacy ribbony pattern overall. Funny how well I remember that!
I also adore the one on the lower left.
Is there any talent you do NOT have?
It's nice to know that places besides South Louisiana celebrate Twelfth Night. Down here, we don't simply end one holiday season on Twelfth Night, we kick off another one -- Mardi Gras.
Your blog was the first blog I read on my birthday today -- I'm 46! To Angelika in Mexico, I get to have a King Cake on my birthday every year if I want (but sometimes I want red velvet cake).
Lovely eggs, Stephanie. No ... make that "magnificent" eggs. Ab. Fab. Great photo. It's almost like getting a birthday card from you!
Best,
Dez
P.S. -- For those of you with Xmas-season birthdays: what did the Three Wise Men say to the Baby Jesus?
"Ok .. now remember, this is for Christmas AND your birthday..."
Posted by: dez at January 7, 2007 1:52 PMDear Yarn Harlot,
I just saw you on CBC and I wanted to congratulate you on your wonderful story about the knitter's and why you got involved in raising so much money for Doctor's Without Boarder's.
I was so impressed with how you were able to knit while you answered all the questions with such poise & confidence.
I just received a copy of your book Knitting Rules from my daughter Kate for Christmas and now I am going to attempt to knit my first pair of socks. I am enjoying the book and quite enjoyed your thoughts on page 145.
Congratulations again on all your sucess as a writer, knitter,& fund-raiser. Well done indeed.
Another knitter,
Joan
Just caught you on CBC. Great job! One question: Does Lettuce Knit employ people to sit in the store and knit 24-7, or do they rely on volunteers?
Posted by: Judy G. at January 7, 2007 2:13 PMI know I'm late but you'll do marvelously. The eggs are absolutely stunning. You have talent abounding.
Posted by: Barbp at January 7, 2007 2:18 PMdoes the CBC do podcats or make their broadcasts available online, like NPR does? would love to hear your interview. eggs look beautiful!
Posted by: Tola at January 7, 2007 2:31 PMThe eggs are gorgeous! I've been looking everywhere to find an ornament to commemorate the first Christmas together as a married couple.. you may have inspired me to create our own. I love that art inspires art, knitting, eggs or otherwise. :)
Posted by: Sara at January 7, 2007 2:43 PMthe eggs are breathtaking. beautiful work!!
and good luck with the interview... you will be fabulous.
Stephanie - Re: CBC Interview. You're so much younger than I thought! You presented yourself - and your knitting beautifully and gave a nice natural interview. And I'm so intrigued by the way the needle is anchored under your right arm.
Posted by: Eleanor at January 7, 2007 7:32 PMGood knitting, great comments, good language(!), good hair!
Well done on the CBC. $270 000+! Wow!
We done good!
Posted by: Cath at January 7, 2007 9:01 PMI think it's ironic that many people who saw your segment will be impressed by the way you knitted and answered questions at the same time, not knowing that if your knitting had been taken away you would probably have been less relaxed and able to answer.
And that question about why knitters? Good answer!
Posted by: B. at January 7, 2007 9:56 PMGreat job on the eggs! You did really well!:) :0
Posted by: colleen at January 7, 2007 10:44 PMgood lord. My Christmas tree is still up. It's Sunday. I'm Jewish, though (strange, I know). If I call it a Channukah bush, will I avoid bad luck you think?
Posted by: TheAmpuT at January 7, 2007 11:13 PMHey, baby...nice eggs.
Posted by: Franklin at January 8, 2007 8:06 AMA further quick thought.... Could we have the Dec. 19 total on the TSF area just so we can see the overall recent level of progress, please?
Posted by: Cath at January 8, 2007 8:08 AMIt is good to have other things to occupy your time! I cut a chunk out of my thumb (couldn't stitch it/had to cauterize it) and have not been able to knit for a month. So, I haven't been knitting . . . instead of eggs though I'm in the middle of reupholstering a chair.
I love the eggs. I love doing the eggs. I need to teach my kids some of these things.
Good job on getting the halls undecked. We did too and everything is put away . . . well until we find that one thing that we have missed!
Posted by: Mary Lynn in Cleveland at January 8, 2007 9:39 AMIn the Greek and Eastern Orthodox churches, Epiphany is the feast day of the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist. The three persons of God are evident in the voice of God the father, the physical body of God the Son, and God the spirit, all present at once during this baptism and is considered a very special holiday. There is no mention of three kings or wise men visiting anyone on January 6. January 7 is the feast day of John the Baptist. Now my tree can come down too.
Who are those people who have the energy to remove decorations and throw the poor Christmas tree to the curb on December 26?
Posted by: Dora at January 8, 2007 9:51 AMLove the eggs!
Posted by: Allegra at January 8, 2007 10:35 AMI always miss everything!!! I missed your interview...twice! Grr. Anyhow, yer eggs are awesome. Ever been to the huge egg in Edmonton (or aroundthereabouts)? I've always wanted to go and see all of Canada's big things like the egg, the nickel, the apple (saw that one) etc. etc.
Um... Wow! You could soooo be the egg harlot if you wanted to be. Amazing colors, patterns and everything. Just, wow!
Posted by: Amy in StL at January 8, 2007 11:04 AMsteph the eggs are awesome. good luck with the interview! hugs!
Posted by: minijaxter at January 8, 2007 11:45 AMYowza them's some nice eggs. They are spectacular! So if you are late for Christmas and not early for Easter, are they to trim the tree? Hope the interview went well and the hair behaved itself (but not TOO much)!
Posted by: Linda V. at January 8, 2007 12:44 PMI had the TV on and I did see the Coronation Street portion but there was no Yarn Harlot. Did they change the show in Edmonton and delete you out? I was so disappointed that I didn't get to see you and hope I will in the future.
Posted by: Melina at January 8, 2007 1:14 PMHello Stephanie.
I don't have a knitting blog, however, I feel I must warn fellow knitters about the dangers of DPNs (size 4) and also find out if anyone else has suffered the ignomy that I have suffered in the last week.
After Christmas my boyfriend and his mother were hopping in the car to go for a walk and I slid over into the backseat, and OUCH! I sat up, and hanging out of my left a** cheek was my knitting needle from my sock project. Luckily, my boyfriend is a doctor, so he was able to yank it out (it was in about an 1.25") and stop the bleeding. He had to go to the ER anyways that day so he picked up some gauze and tools to clean the hole with. But more importantly, who stabs themselves with a frickin knitting needle!!! Needless to say, I walked with a bit of a limp the next few days.
Now, just last night, I was showing a friend my room and, I swear, a DPN leapt out at me, off the bed, and embedded itself in my lower calf, about 1.75" this time. I'm not kidding, somehow I did the impossible twice!!! This time it hurt even more. My friend called my boyfriend and talked us through the removal of the offending probe. Luckily I don't knit with bamboo.
If there is anyone out there who may have had a similar experience, it would cheer my spirits. And I thought, Stephanie, you, of all people, would enjoy this story. Especially the part where I'm lying on my boyfriend's bed, in my underwear, as he cleans out the wound with his mother looking over his shoulder...
I am not going to knit again until I devise some way to blunt my DPNs, maybe with corks, or erasers. I'm also considering making the switch to circulars...
Thanks for letting me share my cautionary tale.
Natasha
Posted by: Natasha at January 8, 2007 1:50 PMYou look damned cute on that tee-vee.
Posted by: claudia at January 8, 2007 5:13 PMWhat? 154 comments and no-one has uploaded the interview to YouTube yet?
I didn't even search the comments for a link, I just headed over there, blithely thinking that a force which can raise $150K in fifteen minutes, would surely have magicked a news report onto YouTube by now.
C'mon we must have some Canadian techo-knitter who happens to have a TV-card, a You-Tube account and was recording TV at precisely the right moment, in the crowd...non?
