Ok, the muggles are bound to think this has all gone just a little too far. "Fancy Heel Flaps"? Unbelievable. I think it's great. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the possibility of meeting Barbara Walker. While I'm not a sock devotee, I enjoy my occasional Eye of Partridge along with the next knitter. Hope to be there in August, in my beloved Portland. Sounds truly amazing. You and Tina and the rest of the team have outdone yourselves.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The sock summit site is great. You guys have really put a lot of work into it. I've been waiting to see what kind of room rates you could get. I just got done booking my room right next to the convention center which will be great as my husband plans to spend his time driving around the state of Oregon so I needed some place close in case I need a quick nap. See you in Portland and again, thanks to you, Tina and all the others who have put so much work into the Sock Summit.
Now off to finish the second sock of my 1st BMFA sock kit so I can get started on the March sock - pattern compliments of our dear Stepahnie.

My hubby and I were trying to decide if, by the Las Vegas strip turning off its lights for Earth Hour, that would save more electricity than we use in (a) ten years or (b) the rest of our lives. We decided on (b), to no one's surprise!

I hope you'll repeat the Sock Summit in future years, even without the all-star cast, for those of us who can't make it to this year's! It looks like the best knitting event EVER!

Very impressive! The first class I looked into was Knitting with Speed and Efficiency, taught by...you! So funny to have landed there. Everything looks great except... I'm already booked with family vacation plans that week. Dare I hope you'll be digitally recording some/all of it for distribution (at a cost of course)?

Okay, ya know what? I was kinda waffling about sock summit and whether I was gonna go. I mean, yeah my sister lives in the area, and yeah the teacher's are gonna be amazing, and yeah it's a chance to be in the same room with true knitting goddesses, but I'm a newish knitter who hasn't tackled socks yet. I mean, just how interesting/entertaining could the whole event be? Then (there should be a big dramatic flourish here) I checked out the website. I AM SO GOING TO SOCK SUMMIT! Holy crap, I can hardly wait!

The website looks great! I live in Boise, Idaho - have my wedding reception in New York (we eloped to Vegas in January) on August 1 - I can totally make it back to Boise and then out to Portland for the Summit - right? Not a crazy plan?? Right??

and let me suggest indianapolis for sock summit deux: good air service, crossroads of several interstate highways, friendly people, compact downtown, plentiful hotel rooms as long as there's no basketball or football game, fabulous children's museum (remember the dino, stephanie?), great lys and indie dyers, and TONS of knitters.

I've been hyperventilating ever since seeing the site - there's so much I want to do and I'm afraid I'll somehow be the one person who doesn't get into any classes!! (Paranoia is one of my most attractive qualities, clearly.) You should definitely get started on a sweater -- I just ordered the yarn for a sock summit sweater myself :)

I can't go so I third the suggestion for DVDs to be available. (I'm not so into downloading stuff.)

The Sock Summit site is beautiful. Lovely. Dare I say a bit reminiscent of Battlestar Galactica? The starry skies are great! Better yet, it's cleanly designed, straightforward, and the text is just like a skirt -- long enough to cover the subject, short enough to keep it interesting.

Huge congrats to you and the rest of the ST teams. I can't wait to attend! (Oh, knitting fates, please let there be a slot in the "Put Spinning on your Feet" class for me on Friday or Saturday!)

I would love to come to the Sock Summit. I have never knit a pair of socks but because of your blog and reading your books and everyone's comments, guess what? I bought sock yarn, DPN's and a sock knitting book. So if I can't be there in the flesh I'll be there in spirit... a sock knitting spirit :)

Thanks for including spindle spinning. I've one quick training session at The Mannings (outside during Spin Out Day) and one class where I was told that I spin leftie. Interesting since I'm primarily a rightie in every other thing I do. I guess I inherited some of my dad's ambidextrous nature after all. I can only spin when I'm within 20 feet of a spinner - can't remember at all by myself at home! Even then it's "designer thick and thin".

Holey Lace! I was reading--ok drooling--over the website, when my Geekheart suggested we go as part of a belated honeymoon!!! I may be in a wheelchair by then so I was dubious but he said we can do it--wheeeeeeeeeeee. I'm so excited! We can be in Portland, and later go up to Seattle and Vancouver.

Btw, the website was one of most enjoyable to read I've looked at in some time. Plus, the geek in me really liked the starry background and the logo that is stunning and also suggestive of some sort of knitting space time continuum.

I was at a meditation retreat on Earth Day. There were lights on there. I think I forgot all about Earth Day when I got home. 12 hours of meditation gets me forgetting many things, except sleep.
