1. I'm so tired.
2. Yesterday/today/all week I've had to make decisions about sleep and how much I would get that were not really reasonable.
3. This all came to a head when Tina and I worked on Sock Summit until the wee hours last night and then I decided that even though the Royal Wedding came on in the wee hours that I would forever regret it if I didn't watch it live.
4. So I did. I got two hours of sleep and I'm practically delirious. I can't tell if the crazy state I'm in is due to exhaustion or caffeine overload to compensate for exhaustion - but I'm so nuts that I can barely tell time.
5. It was worth it. That wedding was completely fabulous.
6. All of this was so that this next sentence could be true.
If you're on the Sock Summit mailing list, you've gotten (or are getting soon) an email that says this:
Dear Knitters,
The Sock Summit Team would like to announce that registration for Sock Summit 2011 will take place Wednesday, the 4th of May at 12:00 pm PDT.
A very great many changes have been made to the registration process this go round, and all of them have been designed to make registration faster, easier, smoother and not melt down any servers anywhere no matter how many knitters try to do so at the same time. As a response to the number of knitters who didn't get spots last time, this year, we've added more classes and more teachers. We find all of this terrifically reassuring, and hope that you do too.
While you get ready for registration, please spend some time perusing our amazing selection of Teachers, Classes and Events, and have a good look at the schedule. Monday, instructions and a walk through for registration will be posted on the registration page of our site, and we hope you'll have a good look at that too, so that you're ready when we go live.
As always, it's an honour and a privilege to work for all of you. Running a sock conference is an unlikely and wonderful job, and we're grateful that we get the chance.

The wedding was fabulous but I wish the members of the clergy had got haircuts. What, they didn't know it was a special occasion? that they would be on TV? that millions of viewers in living rooms, restaurants, bars etc would turn to each other and say, "all that pomp and ceremony and the Right Reverend Archbishop of Canterbury couldn't afford to get his hair cut and his beard trimmed?" Oh, and brava on the sock summit prep - wish I was going to be there, I am INSANE over socks.

Luckily I was working nights and people had their tvs tuned to the wedding, so I was able to watch almost the entire ceremony. Enjoy your nap, and socks make for excellent tired knitting (as long as they're simple)

I stayed up until they left to sign the marriage certificate, and then I turned it all off and went back to bed. I missed the kiss, but I think I saw the best part. She'll make a lovely queen someday...

I can't tell you how absolutely excited I am to register for sock summit this year. This is the first big knitting thing I'm able to register for and I'm SO pumped. I'm pumped to drive to Portland with my friend. I'm pumped to BE in Portland. I'm pumped to stay in a hotel and knit and meet new people and try new things. I'm pumped to maybe get to meet you and so many other people who I admire. I'm SO incredibly excited about everything. I guess what I'm saying is I'm really sorry you're tired today but I want to let you know I appreciate every sleepless minute you've put into making this event for me. Thank you Stephanie. I, too, rose early (1 a.m.) to watch the wedding live and I not only LOVED IT, I had no sleep-deprivation issues. In fact, the only issue I DO have is that when I look in the mirror, my eyes seem to have vanished into dark pits....

We had the most delightful Royal Wedding party this morning with all the requisite British treats-cucumber sandwiches, scones, strawberries, clotted cream, champagne and orange juice, coffee. It was worth every minute of early rising. I grabbed a nap in the afternoon(lol).

Now I just hope the trash press will leave the two of them alone to live their lives and not harass them to death as they did with Dianna.

Sat there all nite....until 9am est, wept myself silly...got one hour sleep and then on to meet daughter (that trumps all sleep) and the rest of the day. Took a tiny 50 min nap.
I'm with you on the no sleep! I slept 10+ hours last nite...EEEKKKKK

I set the VCR..remember those to tape the wedding, but I got up at 6 just to check to see if it was working and stayed up to watch. Ran the shop for a 10 hour day and came back in for another full day...tired does not even begin to describe how I feel..totally worth it though!

And regarding the Archbishop, when I saw the BBC interview with him which was done before the wedding and noticed his beard - Lenten penance? (we shall agree that the devil-horn eyebrows will pass unmentioned) of course I figured he had plenty of time to hit the barber's chair before The Event. What do I know. I can't remember if he has a wife? And if he does, why is it somehow always the woman's fault?
The Sock Summit sounds like it will be better than ever this year.

I know it is A LOT of work, but have you thought about doing a sock summit in the east? I live in Ohio so it would to cost me about $600 to fly to Oregon and I'd rather spend that on yarn ;-). Upstate NY would be a good location . . . close to Canada, drivable from many places. Just a thought :-)

Wonderful, gorgeous wedding with all the great stories to tell afterwards (even though I wasn't there). And then we had a gorgeous spring day, 70'F - went to the garden store, sat outside on the grass and cleaned VM out of a fleece. Today we got rain - with snow on the way. At least we didn't get the blizzard that friends farther west are getting. So glad I took the time to watch that joyful wedding! (Plus I bought my May flowers today at the grocery store. They'll need to be my May basket tomorrow.) Happy May Day!

Still exhausted from getting up early for the royal wedding but it was so worth it. I was up at 4 am for Diana's wedding and, sadly, her funeral so it seemed right to be up for William's wedding. Loved it all, the dress, the looks between bride and groom, the crazy hats, Harry, all but Charles and Camilla who I have yet to forgive.
Hoping to come to Sock Summit. You and Tina have put SO MUCH work into it.

And wasn't the wedding music grand? The processioal was one of my favorite choral works ever--and it was sung and played so beautifully. And I loved how they filled the Abbey with trees!

I don't regret the sleep deprivation one bit and I am insanely jealous that the new Duke and Duchess will be making their first official state visit as representatives of the Crown to Canada. Don't get me wrong, I'm immensely proud that my ancestors thumbed their nose at England and made it possible for us to have our own independence, but I do love me some royal pomp and circumstance....and the hats. I think Aretha got it right at the Inauguration.
I am also excited for registration as I will actually be able to go to Sock Summit this year!!! Finally I can see my socks in the museum in situ.
