Posted by: Sarah O G at January 5, 2010 2:27 PMThere is something relaxing about winding pretty yarn.
Posted by: Laura at January 5, 2010 2:27 PMI was just eyeing this pattern the other night. I have a question that maybe you can answer... what is the size range for this kit? I can't find that information anywhere. THANKS!
Posted by: Liz at January 5, 2010 2:28 PMWow, and I was just looking at Poems of Color this morning for a few minutes before work! Enjoy your Bohusserie!
Posted by: Milissa at January 5, 2010 2:29 PMDon't forget to save the yarn labels!
Posted by: Kim at January 5, 2010 2:29 PMPretty! What is it going to be!!!?!
Posted by: pia at January 5, 2010 2:30 PMNow that I see what the newly wound yarn is for, it's even more exciting! Thanks for sharing the Bohus history with us at Knot Hysteria. That's bo-HUS... :)
nevermind, I actually clicked the link! gorgeous!

Posted by: peony67 at January 5, 2010 2:47 PMI sure could use a nice warm beautiful sweater like that in this cold!
Posted by: Kris at January 5, 2010 2:48 PMI thought it would be done by now.
Posted by: Presbytera at January 5, 2010 2:49 PMThis way lies evil...evil...evil!!! I sooo want to order this kit, but I am large, ample of bosom and apple of belly; no way do I dare hand over a kroner until I can be certain the pattern includes larger sizes and/or the kit can accommodate them as well. Does anyone out there know the answer? Please, pretty please? I'll try emailing Solveig as well.
Posted by: LorindaH at January 5, 2010 2:52 PMOoooh, looks like a fun project. I love the colors of the finished sweater. I'm curious if this is meant for you or for a gift?
Posted by: Vismajor at January 5, 2010 2:57 PMGee Whiz, All I asked for Christmas was an Yarn Swift. And what did I get A television for the kitchen. Hubby says he'll make me one I said "nope" I am still waiting for the spindle, bought the needed things 4 years ago, still waiting ...........

Posted by: Wiolet at January 5, 2010 3:10 PMWonderful colors! I got a yarn swift and ball winder for my b'day. What fun! How many balls can I stack up? I'm trying to limit my skein conversion process to a couple a day. Skeins, as you say, are lovely too.
Posted by: Carrie in way northern new york at January 5, 2010 3:10 PMOh... wow... just wow. That is gorgeous.
Posted by: Mandi at January 5, 2010 3:11 PMYay! I was wondering when you would do some colorwork again! That pattern looks great!
Posted by: Daniele at January 5, 2010 3:11 PMOh wow. A Wild Apple Bohus replica sweater. Pullover?
Is tomorrow going to be S is for swatch? Or are you going to refer back to your numbers from your previous Bohus sweater?
If you are still knitting this sweater on Feb 12 then you can join the Ravlympics to finish it up: it could fall into the WIP-Dancing event. And of course there is a Ravelympics team within the Bohus Stickning Ravelry Group you could join.... just say'n.
Wild Apple is my favorite Bohus design.

Posted by: Kathy at January 5, 2010 3:36 PMI'm gonna be jealous of this one. I've been thiiiiiiiis close to ordering the kit a dozen or more times since taking Susanna's workshop a couple of winters ago.
Posted by: Renee the Sequel at January 5, 2010 3:36 PMOh. Wow. I want. (In a cardigan version, if it's allowed.) We're having decidedly Canadian weather this week in Oklahoma, and it looks perfect.
Posted by: Aubrey at January 5, 2010 3:40 PMWow, so pretty. My new year sweater is clipping along at a good pace, at the expense of all my other work!
Posted by: Lauren at January 5, 2010 3:40 PMSo. Beautiful. To cardi or not to cardi - have you made up your mind? *votes cardi*. It will be beautiful, and probably complete before my top-down raglan I started in April.
Posted by: Andrea at January 5, 2010 3:40 PMWow!
Posted by: Megt at January 5, 2010 3:44 PMSince you had no way of knowing I was on a yarn diet, I forgive you for waving this tempting delicacy under my nose. Almost.

Posted by: javalulu at January 5, 2010 3:46 PMWinter here is wistful and whining for winter apples: wickedly wonderful wool will have to do ... away to knit
:)

Wild Apples is one of my absolute favorites from the Bohus group. If I ever finish my Enid cardigan, which I refer to as faux-hus, I'll think about this one. Until then, I'll experience it vicariously through your blog. Thanks!
Posted by: The Other Kristen at January 5, 2010 4:27 PMwonderful wooly winter work, indeed. my resistance to that kit is crumbling. perhaps it's time for me to attempt a steeking project? happy knitting!
Posted by: bekala at January 5, 2010 4:29 PMGorgeous. Now let me say that it is just mean to weaken my resolve to finish up old(er) projects with gorgeous sweaters on teeny needles. Must stay strong and finish what I've already started, it would look really bad if I finished a sweater for myself while the one for my auntie lies unfinished under the bed somewhere. Granted she doesn't know about it...but still. Must. Stay. Strong.
Posted by: Ashley at January 5, 2010 4:38 PMLove! I got the forest darkness kit for Christmas - so challenging to not call in sick for the next week so I could stay home and knit!
Posted by: heather at January 5, 2010 4:39 PMWild Apples wock! Huh huh huh huh huh!
Hmm, hard to type in Fuddese...
Posted by: silfert at January 5, 2010 4:45 PMwowser, wonderful wool in the window!

Posted by: Melanie at January 5, 2010 4:49 PMhave you been watching Sesame Street? LOL!
Posted by: Cheryl at January 5, 2010 4:58 PMPerhaps this is the motivation I need to finish sewing the hems of my otherwise completed Wild Apple.
Posted by: maeve at January 5, 2010 5:01 PMOh, that is going to be BEAUTIFUL!
Posted by: Leslie at January 5, 2010 5:22 PMThose colours are to die for! I can't wait to see this emerging - good luck!
Posted by: Ellie at January 5, 2010 5:45 PMBeautiful! Great for fighting the winter greys! But couldn't Joe's gansey come out of time-out soon???
Posted by: Leta at January 5, 2010 5:48 PMI so need to buy that kit. That sweater is calling my name something fierce.
Posted by: Sarah at January 5, 2010 5:55 PMThis is very pretty (and so are the other ones on the site). Is there a reason why this one is more popular than the other equally gorgeous ones that were easier to get? (Or did I just answer myself)
I think if I were making one I would do Blue Shimmer or the Grey Mist.
Posted by: Seanna Lea at January 5, 2010 6:02 PMwowee! what witty women we be!
Posted by: cheryl at January 5, 2010 6:13 PMWhen I go to our LYS it's always the same thing. The colours befuddle my mind but if I touch them I'm a gonner. Good thing I can't touch these they are yummy just like an apple is .

Posted by: Mary at January 5, 2010 6:35 PMWonderful!
Posted by: Rebecca at January 5, 2010 6:36 PMthat final photo completely illustrates the concept of "yarn as art". i totally get the "i can't make it into something it's already perfect" concept re: balls of yarn!
Posted by: christine m. east of toronto at January 5, 2010 6:41 PMOOOOh, I said it fast 3Xs!!!

Posted by: Jeanie at January 5, 2010 7:30 PMThat is so beautiful, someday I will tackle one of those.
Posted by: patti at January 5, 2010 7:44 PMHooray for Bohus!
Are you doing the hat, or are the other balls hiding?
You DO realize that wild apple requires 7 colors on a row a few times, right?
That said, enjoy, and thanks for helping me get my Blu Shimmer back out!
What a Wild, Wonderful, Whimsical Witty!
Posted by: Cyndy at January 5, 2010 8:14 PMOooooooo! Pretty pretty pretty! Is it gonna be the hat? pretty pretty pretty pretty!
Posted by: Sharon In Michigan at January 5, 2010 8:40 PMYay, another Bohus!
Posted by: Elizabeth at January 5, 2010 8:43 PMLove the Wild Apples. I have wandered the Bohus site and can't figure out how to order a kit. Or should I try the Poems Of Color book to do my own? Love the Blue Shimmer cardi.
Thanks Steph!
Posted by: Julibeth at January 5, 2010 8:56 PMSweet Siren Susanna, Sending Swedish Sensual Somethings....
Posted by: karen at January 5, 2010 8:57 PMO.K. Stephanie!!!! That's the perfect example of the sweater I'd never be able to knit because I couldn't stand changing all those skeins into something else. I might manage to wind them(as you did), but then I'd want to store them in a large glass vase somewhere where I could see them all the time. The colours leave me breathless.
Posted by: Hazel Smith at January 5, 2010 9:08 PMmmmmmm...... yummy colors.
So glad you are here and sharing the pretty with us.
Bless you for mentioning the RSC. I have a post it on my computer reminding me to sign up for the 2010 sock club. Did I look at the post it? Did I think about it at work the last two days? Oh no. I blame the new kitten.
Posted by: Susan at January 5, 2010 9:24 PMWow! What wheels of wound whimsy.
Posted by: Cath at January 5, 2010 9:40 PMno fair Carrie, a swift and a ball winder, Wow , oh well maybe if I am good the birthday Fairy will bring me the swift I think I have a ball winder somewhere around here. Sorry Steph, can't wait to see the sweater

Eat your heart out Dr. Seuss ;)
Posted by: Monica R. at January 5, 2010 10:31 PMHas anyone ever mentioned that you are a very bad influence? I had planned to severely limit my yarn expenditures this year. Then your first post of 2010 convinced me that I had to finally join the Rockin' Sock Club (the first time I tried, I couldn't get in because there was no room, so I hadn't tried for YEARS). Now you remind me of how beautiful Wild Apples is -- AND it happens to use colors that look good with my skintone. With those two expenditures, I'm at about half of what I had hoped would be my total year's yarn budget.
It's pretty embarrassing to blow a year's budget 5 days in. I live less than 10 miles from Stitches West, so I usually go there as well. That would leave $0 for LYSs, which I refuse to do, so my budget has just been revised upwards.
Luckily, I keep the books for our family and I never told my husband of my plans to cut back. ;)
Reading your blog is the most expensive "freebie" since I adopted my (often at the vet) abandoned dog 15 years ago.
Posted by: Jamie at January 5, 2010 10:41 PMWow. What words.
Posted by: Katrina at January 5, 2010 11:38 PMYour blog is dangerous to my bank account! Now I want to be in the Rockin Sock Club and order a Wild Apples kit! ;)

Posted by: Kathy in KS at January 6, 2010 12:04 AMCome join us in the Bohus Stickning group on Ravelry! It is a wonderful group of supportive and funny knitters who have answers (or we make them up) for all things Bohus. We'd love to have you join in.
Posted by: twinsetellen at January 6, 2010 12:18 AMThat's some lovely yummy yarn. I need a ball winder! I know this now because I have spent (er...am still spending...) the last two days trying to untangle some beautiful, hand-dyed sock yarn (Christmas gift from Darling Husband) that I totally screwed up and turned into a plate of spaghetti before I could wind it properly. Grrr...It appears my New Year's resolution is to work on patience, perseverence, etc. By the way, does anyone else have this problem?
Posted by: georgia at January 6, 2010 1:08 AMWild Appls would enhance any wardrobe!
Posted by: Janieb at January 6, 2010 1:10 AMThat is one seriously gorgeous sweater! I love all the colors. Good choice.

Posted by: Cynthia C at January 6, 2010 1:46 AMI'm so glad you're back! I was feeling very bummed out for you and your year of apparent unpleasantness, but selfishly panicked that you were going to stop blogging. Your candor has been very soothing to me as a mother of two very small girls. I LOVE Wild Apples...so, so pretty. I look forward to seeing yours take shape! I'm picking my way through an EZ Tomten very slowly...the two small girls cut into my knitting time significantly :)
Posted by: Kate at January 6, 2010 2:16 AMFantastic colours. Can`t wait to see the work done.

Posted by: Kourtney at January 6, 2010 1:27 PMEver since you passed your Bohus sweater around at the Knot Hysteria retreat, I've been obsessed! Wild Apple is the one I'm planning to make this year, so I'm excited to see yours come to life. Thank you so much for introducing me to these amazing pieces of art!
Posted by: Dorie at January 6, 2010 2:11 PMYou know, it hurts your finger tips when you bang them against the monitor trying to touch the pretty yarn. :)
Posted by: Benita at January 6, 2010 2:25 PMWow.
Well, when will you wear it? ;o) Such lovely colors!
Posted by: Annalea at January 6, 2010 3:05 PMHey, I have that kit! It's stunning, isn't it?What I don't have is the confidence in my knitting skills to start on the project. So I just lovingly gaze at it until I can work up the courage to have a go at it.
Posted by: Samina at January 6, 2010 3:24 PMThat's the kit I want... ooooh, I can't wait to see how it goes. I'm like Samina: afraid my skills aren't up to it, but really only for the steeking! I wart to do it cardi-style but I can only do stranded work in the round, so I've got to get over my fear of steeks! Can't wait to see the work in progress.
Posted by: Lise Buisson at January 6, 2010 5:40 PMI started the Wild Apple this past Spring. Have about 6 more inches on the body to go and lost my motivation. It really is beautiful and it is the 3rd Bohus I have made...oh, heck, I will pick it up again tonight.
Posted by: Mary at January 6, 2010 6:32 PMPretty colors. And winding can be very relaxing. I hope you remembered to tuck the labels into the middle of the balls. Just saying. . . . XX
Posted by: Karen at January 6, 2010 6:43 PMThis is going to be gorgeous!
A good case for yarn becoming 'not yarn'.
btw - I totally agree with your yarn keeping tendencies!
