We were holding a training for our denomination Safe Church Team, and we were supposed to have four people from Alberta join us, but they couldn’t get flights back to Canada before Thanksgiving, so we lost them. Good training anyway, and they’ll have another chance later-family and holidays are much more important! Hope it was a good day for you.

  105. Yes, we have much to be thankful for. This has been a gorgeous weekend in southern Ontario. That is something to be very grateful for. There’s thankfulness for family, and food, and knitted objects that turn out, and actually fit. Your pictures of your family are lovely. Just one question: what do you folks eat instead of turkey? Not that tofurkey stuff, I hope. That product is something not to be thankful for. We tried it. Once. When the leftovers dried up in the fridge, we tossed it out.

  121. Lovely photos! I think Thanksgiving is my favourite holiday – autumn harvest foods are definitely my favourites. I tried new recipes – beet/carrot salad, grilled eggplant and halloumi cheese salad, and a Catalan eggplant/zucchini relish that cooked for 4 hours …
    The Toronto weather was also lovely this weekend.

    my wonderful program here, my wonderful family and friends, and wonderful, wonderful you who constantly reminds me that it’s right to be who you are, to be a knitter, and to give back to the world that gives so much to me.

  150. Two turkey dinners with homemade pie in 1 weekend, one with 4 dozen friends, one with a dozen family members and all I had to do was bake pecan pie and cook spaghetti squash. This day is indeed a reminder that we need to appreciate every small thing to keep our balance when the big things sneak up behind us and clobber us in the back of the knees. There is always much to be thankful for.

  170. You Canadians have the best date for Thanksgiving. American Thanksgiving is all smooshed into Christmas and the harvest is practically over by the end of November, and nobody is excited about the beautiful fall. Yet another reason to move to BC……

  180. What do vegetarians have for Thanksgiving? I am cooking for veggetarians and looking for festive non-meat suggestions – the turkey is so much the centre of the omnivore holiday meal.
